Calcite and Scrounger!

Here is a guy I had alot of fun painting. His photo really doesn't work too well. I am going to have to do more experimentation with the camera. But it's a neat fig so I am throwing him up. I think he is the last member of the Black and Gold gang. I will do some shots of the whole group next time. I am still working on his powers. I imagine he can cause crystals to grow like crazy. I added some Plastruct hexagonal rod to the base after cutting some pieces into points to reinforce that idea. I am going to get another copy of him and go crazy with the NMM type techniques and see how that goes.

Here is a guy from way in the back of the drawer. The Scrounger! I really didn't do alot to him but its a fun fig and I love it. I am going to take this guy and add a few colors and see what happens.

Iron Ore! and an old fig, Capone!

Well here is another long overdue update. I call this guy Iron Ore, another member of the Black and Gold gang. Congrats to Green Bay, by the way. The red should be darker. I used GW's Devlan Mud to give his body a wash and it didn't darken as much as I had expected. Grannok-5 is one of the best superfigs ever. As soon as I get my hands on another one I will try another scheme.

Here is a super I painted years and years ago. I spent alot of time on the face and then phoned in his suit. Oh well. I will be rebasing this guy eventually.

Have I already complained about how school and work is killing my hobby time?

Yes, you have.

Alright then! Thanks for reading!

Midnight! And some Apes!

Well kids, life has butted its warty nose well into my hobby plans of late. Apparently working full time and also going to classes can put a bit of a kybosh on one's carefully laid plans to keep a blog going. But whatever, here are some pictures!

Here is one of the Paragons in a different scheme. This guy is about a standard a super as you are likely to get, a classic. A black and yellow version was seen here not too long ago.

One of the things I really dig about Superfigs is the ability to do virtually anything. So when I see a crazy figure I have to have I can just go nuts, secure in the knowledge that I can stat it up and put it on the table. There are more than a couple other games out there with that capability and I am always on the look out for more. I've got full thrust for starship action, Goal System Fantasy scratches the sword and sorcery itch, Song of Blades and Heroes, the same. Now finally Scott Pyle is working on a mech combat game so my random collection of mechs will get put to good use.

But I digress, here are some Eureka Bolier Suit Apes. I need a few more, some rebasing, and a good hook. Then they will be causing trouble in the Steel City for sure.

Now I have homework to do.

Barricade! and some Munchers!

Here is the standard bearer for my communist super team. He is a light conversion of the awesome Superfig Ox. I've posted other members of the Revolutionary Metahuman Soviet before but they won't get their full write up until I finish up a nice female mini to round out the group. This guy sat unfinished for a long time until I finally got around to finishing the banner.

So next we have some wonderful minis from Khurasan Miniatures, a great little company that makes a ton of minis I didn't know I couldn't live without. Seriously, crab men, great 15mm sci fi, some 70's themed stuff in 28mm, and some great historical stuff. Its like the have a machine that reads my mind or something. Here we have some of their Munchers, a nod to one of the greatest 80's films ever, Critters. I am guilty of a little 80's mash-up here; the "leader" stand features the boss on his throne, one of the Munchers is sitting in a discarded toilet. A disgusting gribbly emerging from a toilet is actually from the film Ghoulies, another 80's flick.

The toilet came from another one of my favorite companies, Mega Minis. They have so much great stuff. I bought the toilet only a few weeks ago without any idea of what I would do with it. I just had to have it. And then a few days later I was getting the Munchers ready and there you go. It was fated to be.

Steel City is about to have some unwelcome visitors! Small, furry, violent visitors. Now I just need to find two good bounty hunter minis.

ElastiApe!

Here's a fun quick update: Elastiape! I am throwing this guy up right now as the Steelers are playing the Jets for the AFC. Hopefully another member of the Black and Gold gang will bring them some luck. Not that they need it!

ElastiApe is posed like one of the little plastic monkeys from the Barrel Of Monkeys we all had as a kid. I love that.

Black and Gold Gang

Here's a sneak peak and the last themed gang I completed, tentatively named the Black and Gold Gang. I'll do a nice spread with the whole crew when I get some terrain done.

Hey man, where is the big write up? Where is the back story?

I'll tell you where it is, smeared all over the concrete around the University of Pittsburgh campus. My brain is exhausted from a savage academic beat down. I work full time and go to school, classes are back in session, and I am fried! After I recover some energy the Steel City will once again continue to grow.

So you don't update in forever and I get excuses about finishing the degree you should have been done with years ago? That's some weak sauce.

I know what will make you feel better, the Hyboriape. Super Apes fix everything.

Glock-Roach!

Here is one of my favorites, the Glock-Roach. I posted him on LAF ages ago but have since re-based him to match my new scheme and shot him again with a better camera. This is one of my favorite figs. I imagine he is a former exterminator, name of John Toberski. His is a tragic story. Diagnosed with terminal cancer as a result of years exposed to dangerous pesticides, Mr. Toberski submitted in desperation to a series experimental treatments administered by MEDX ltd., an organization long suspected to operate as a front for certain super villians. The untested genetic therapies mutated Mr. Toberski into the creature below. He escaped the MEDX labs, disoriented and severely depressed, wandering the dark alleys and forgotten places of Steel City's roughest neighborhoods. One evening Toberski's dark reverie was disturbed by the sound of screams from a nearby alley. A young couple had been cornered by members of the notorious 4SC, 4th Street Crew. Despite his own deep depression, Toberski was unable to not intervene. In the ensuing brawl he realized his new horrid form had certain advantages, great speed and immense toughness, to name a few. In mere moments the gangers lay broken and bleeding on the filthy concrete. The couple's profuse gratitude, even to one so freakish and terrifying, stirred something in Toberski. His tragic metamorphosis could be have a positive side. He could help those in need and possibly give his life some sort of meaning again. His super senses enabled him to locate the gangers' nearby hangout. There he took on even more of the street soldiers, emerging victorious again. He armed himself from the gang's large stash of weapons and left a bloody mess of broken bodies and furniture behind, melding back into the dark streets that were his new home. That night the Glock-Roach was born! Steel City's insectiod vigilante stalks the alleys and darkest places of the city, always ready to intercede on behalf of the helpless, waging a one-bug war against the city's violent street gangs.
